G20 Engagement
The Think20 (T20) stands as the official engagement group of the G20. It serves as an ‘ideas bank,’ for the G20 by gathering prominent think tanks, research centres and experts from around the globe together on one platform to engage on discussions on policy matters that are relevant to the agenda of the G20. The Centre for Responsible Business, has been actively engaged with the activities of the T20 and has contributed to the development of a few policy briefs and a few side events.
Policy brief 1: Reducing Food Loss and Waste: Enabling Action Through the Target-Measure-Act Approach
Every year, more than 40 percent of food intended for human consumption is either lost or wasted across the global food supply chain. The reduction of such food loss and food waste could yet be one of the most effective strategies to mitigate the existential threat of climate change. Devyani Hari, Dr. Jayahari KM, Liz Goodwin Murli Dhar Nitya Sharma, Ph.D, Dr. Ruchika Singh, Shweta Lamba have co-authored a T20 Policy Brief, ‘Reducing Food Loss and Waste: Enabling Action Through the Target-Measure-Act Approach’.

The Indian Presidency has identified certain priorities for immediate G20 action: green development, climate finance, women-led development, Lifestyles for Environment (LiFE), data for development, digital transformations, and reform of multilateral institutions. The seven Task Forces of the T20 were framed around these priorities. In this Communiqué, the recommendations are structured to reflect the priorities of the T20 Task Forces and working groups to strengthen the links between the T20 outcomes and the G20 agenda. This document is a call to action and outlines a set of policy proposals for G20 decision-makers.
Business 20 (B20) India, representing Business Federations and companies from the Group of 20 countries, presented this Communique to the Group of 20 on August 27, 2023. The G20 under India’s Presidency is working with the theme of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: One Earth, One Family, One Future. Inspired by this all-encompassing principle of common good for all, B20 India adopted the theme: “R.A.I.S.E. – Responsible, Accelerated, Innovative, Sustainable, and Equitable Businesses”. Anchored in the foundational principles of R.A.I.S.E, B20 India’s deliberations were guided by the broader vision of fostering a robust, resilient, and equitable global economy. We believe that this is a moment where the world must look towards the future while dealing comprehensively with the current global uncertainties.
