Mapping of Sustainability Certification for the Indian Textile Sector with Special Focus on Increasing Export Competitiveness of MSMEs
Objectives
CRB, in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the develoPPP program, launched an initiative to enhance the export competitiveness of MSMEs in India’s textile sector. The project focused on navigating the landscape of sustainability certifications to strengthen the industry’s capacity to implement circular approaches and improve environmental and social performance. As part of this initiative, CRB conducted a comprehensive assessment of the existing voluntary certification and audit landscape in India’s textile sector.
Events
On December 6, 2023, the Centre for Responsible Business, in collaboration with German Cooperation Deutsche Zusammenarbeit, GIZ, and develoPPP, hosted a thought-provoking discussion on ‘Navigating The Textile Sector’s Certification Landscape for Global Competitiveness.’ The event also featured two ‘Fireside Chats’ that explored the pivotal role of certifications in promoting sustainability and enhancing export competitiveness within the Indian Agriculture and Textile (A&T) Sector.
